1965 When the Saints Go Marching In

In 1965 Elvis recorded the following rendition of  "The Saints":

When The Saints Go Marching In (1965)

Elvis recorded it previously in 1956:

1956 : When the Saints Go Marching in

However, the very first time he recorded this traditional song was in 1953.

I wrote a choreography for this gospel, which is published on Copperknob: All Saints Parade

Actually, the multiple versions of Elvis' renditions are not all the same:
  • there could be between 4 and 7 verses (even 8 when the quartet made a final instrumental ending),
  • their lyrics are not identical, etc.
  • some verses could be separated by an instrumental or vocal (chorus) break
  • etc.
The original and official version included, in the middle of the song,  an instrumental break finishing by the words "Go, Go, Go, ...!" which induces a tag. It's why the tag is optional.

Moreover the number of walls will be varying according to the record you choose. But, as this choreography is a two-wall march (parade), according to the number of verses (odd or even) your dance will finish either at the 12:00-wall or at the 6:00-wall. For those who finish at the 6 o'clock-wall, I included an optional finale section.

1956 Don't be cruel

In 1956, Elvis recorded Otis Blackwell's song "Don't be cruel":

About 15 choreographies were written for this song.

My club is dancing on this one (the link to the stepsheet is mentioned on the video):

1957 Jailhouse Rock

Elvis recorded "Jailhouse Rock" in 1957 for the film of the same name.

More than 30 choreographic stepsheets have been scripted on this song (interpreted by many different singers). The following video could be danced on Elvis Presley's record:

1960 Wild in the Country

Wild in the Country was recorded in 1960 (and again in 1961 for his musical-drama which shared the same title with this song).

Here's this song:

Here's my step sheet for this dance: Wild in the Country Step Sheet (Choreographer : DJ Jack).

At my knowledge, until now (August 20th, 2024) there are no other choreography written for this song.

A Choreographic Blog Dedicated to Elvis Presley

This Site is dedicated to all Dances on Elvis Presley's Songs.

Hi, folks! I'm DJ Jack McKEWX (aka Jack HITTHEROAD).

For each song, I'll link:

- the song on YouTube

- a link to the Step Sheets

- a teach video or a video demo

- eventually an embedded link to the movie trailer when the song is from a movie... There could be other songs in the same trailer.

Under the Paragraph Title "Labels" on the right side of this screen:

- all the dance titles are listed in alphabetical order, so you can easily find the dance you're looking for (of course if the song had been choreographed)

- if the dance title differs from the song title, both of them are mentioned

- the year the song was edited is also mentioned.
